"The art of teaching is the art of assisting discovery." -Mark Van Doren
My students are a melting pot of cultures, learning styles, and abilities.
They are hungry for knowledge. They soak up all things around them. They are working towards connecting things they learn to the things they already know. Our school is a Title I California Distinguished school which offers lots of different learning opportunities for students. We provide a variety of learning environments including technology to enhance and support learning. Our teachers are committed to student engagement.Young students need hands-on realia to bridge gaps between learning and understanding. Any experiences that can tie classroom learning together with real life encounters are a must.
My students need a visit from Pacific Animal Productions for real life presentations to support a deeper understanding of concepts introduced in the classroom. They will get to see the animals and touch some of them as well as hear from an expert all about them.
As a result of this presentation, my students will be able to describe various animals, their habitats, their diets, and some interesting facts about them.
It will provide additional information beyond what they previously learned and add a little "wow."
The information gained through this presentation will provide a strong foundation that will support future learning.
