"All children are artists. The problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up." ~Pablo Picasso
As a teacher, my desire is to give each student an opportunity to show their creative, individual style of learning in a safe and positive environment.
My classroom is full of artistic, smart, creative and motivated students.
Our #1 classroom rule is to smile each day. We do our best, work hard and find happiness in our tasks and responsibilities. Our school is very diverse in economic status. Each year I find more of my students requiring free lunch, additional support and emotional encouragement. Research shows us that art brings a bonding feeling within a group. I am trying to create a positive, safe atmosphere to bridge the barriers between the unique differences among my little people.
My students need a variety of art supplies, including colored paper, lamination, brushes, paint, markers and crayons. My goal is to bring art into language arts, math and science as we create a colorful academic performance portfolio for each student. Art seems to bring any lesson a bit of brightness. I want to integrate more art into our daily math, science and language art lessons. I hope to provide inspirational opportunities for my students to participate, engage and master their second grade skills with a stronger passion. I want to create the love of art and creativity within the walls of my classroom. Empowering students through art is a way to encourage self confidence, help them embrace their artistic talents, engage in new activities and motivate them to do their best classwork and individualized learning.
Donating to this project will allow additional art materials into my classroom.
It will assist my teaching strategies and projects. We will have more tools to inspire and encourage students. Each student will leave their 2nd grade experience with an academic performance portfolio full of learning opportunities, activities, assessments and assignments... complete with many positive memories.
