Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students are fearlessly unique and driven to create amazing bodies of work and I couldn't be more proud of them! It has been a privilege to work with them this year and I cannot wait to see how we grow the art programs in the upcoming semester!

Students with physical disabilities, learning disabilities, English language learners, and everyone in between have found success in the art room and that builds self-esteem.

It has also fostered a sense of community in the classroom.

My Project

Because we live in a digital world and my students are used to seeing their work only on screens, I believe it is important for them to also see their work in a physical and tangible form. Having the ability to print their artwork for shows and displays would be such an awesome opportunity to really show off what they can do. They have spent the last semester perfecting their understanding of Photoshop and now they will be taking a course on photography. I was only able to print about 10 projects this year which is significantly less than what we had turned in.

It will be exciting to be able to reward students who work at an advanced level by exhibiting their work around the school and city!
