I am so blessed to work on an incredibly diverse campus. My students come from all walks of life and each of them offers something unique and wonderful to our school community. Our campus houses the Regional Day School for the Hearing Impaired. We are also one of many bilingual schools in our school district. With that being said, we are so fortunate to have opportunities to celebrate a wealth of languages, cultures, similarities and differences that make us the great campus that we are.
As the campus librarian, I take every opportunity I can to share great literature with my students.
In my six year tenure at my school, I have seen my students' love of reading grow immensely. I am constantly seeking new ideas to keep this passion alive.
My Project
The W.P. Elementary library is in need of a colored printer. My students live in a technicolor world, but currently they can only print in black and white. Through the use of a colored printer, my students will be able to utilize and print photos that support their learning. My teachers will be able to make colorful, engaging games and activities that support grade level learning objectives. This will be especially helpful to our students with special needs.
Most of our students do not have access to technology in their homes.
Many of the students rely on school equipment when they need to complete school assignments such as research papers, science and history fair projects, etc. When I am assisting my students with these endeavors here in the library, we are only able to print resources in black and white. A colored printer would allow my students to create 21st century products and would take their learning to a whole new level.
