My Students

Our school is in an urban area of our county in Virginia. While we are proud of the diversity we encounter daily, with over 30 languages spoken, there are challenges we face, daily, as we strive to teach. Hands-on, real life experiences are optimal formats we choose as we strive for deep understanding. We maximize success for student learning as they are immersed in their learning experiences. These experiences transcend language barriers and open doors for our students!

My Project

As teachers, we are always looking for ways to differentiate and meet our learners where they are!

With Ozobots, all students experience both success and challenges immediately, giving them opportunities to stretch their thinking in a way that is comfortable and engaging to them!

Ozobots offer students the ability to explore the developing technology they will be in charge of as adults. Students will learn to make plans for their ozobots, and revise their plans for efficiency and accuracy. The kit includes everything students will need to be successful coders: ozobots, markers for coding, coding sheets (one for each ozobot!) We will use the butcher paper to complete projects as well as "play" with coding, and as we plan to share these ozobots, we are asking for cases to protect 5 or 6 ozobots as we use them in different classrooms on our first grade team.

Our students will develop patience, attention to detail, and learn the value of perseverance as they code their way to academic success!
