My Students

As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, they are always ready and excited about each new school day.

My students are inquisitive and ready to try new experiences each and every day.

Their zest for learning gives me the motivation to provide them with activities that will continue to ignite the spark of learning. School is a great outlet for many of them since they come from homes with low-socioeconomic backgrounds, which are unable to provide them with various opportunities. I may not be able to control their home lives, however, I can certainly guide their experience during the school day. I want to provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences, so that they never loose that thirst for learning.

My Project

The Ozobots mini robots will be used as a resource for technology but also as a way to engage and motivate students in various subjects. Students can program the Ozobot to follow the path of the perimeter of a rectangle, help show the life cycle of an insect or sequence reading stories. I know that this interaction with technology will increase interest in other areas of study because of the high rate of engagement, while they are learning the basics for computer coding. The Ozobot will provide a fun and engaging way to infuse 21st century skills into our core curriculum.
