This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Curious, full of wonder, and extremely creative are some of the qualities my students have. We are a Title 1 district, and all of our students receive free breakfast and lunch. Our district is proud to expose our students to a variety of STEM and PBL activities.
I teach a busy bunch of 4-6, Emotional Support students.
I have mostly boys, who love hands-on activities that allow them to shine. They are tough, but very curious and interested in technology. While they are big consumers of technology, my goal is to teach them that iPads can be used for more than just video games and YouTube. They have been introduced to coding via code.org, and I want to broaden their horizons.
My Project
With STEM careers on the rise, I want to provide my students with the opportunity to explore such careers. We work very hard on social skills, and the STEM and hands-on activities allow for essential practice of named social skills.
Your donation will provide my students with the opportunity to use robots and coding interdisciplinary, and make connections on how all subjects are related and complement one another.
The DASH robot facilitates the students to give voice commands and explore loops, events, conditions, and sequences. This allows them to expand their curiosity past coding.
Ozobots will allow them to bring their story to life, by providing a visual and auditory prop for the reader. This is another opportunity for my students to practice coding in a real life application.
