My students need 1 chromebook per table group and I have 4 table groups. This would allow 6-7 students to access the technology the need to reach their full potential.
Our elementary school is the largest elementary school west of the Mississippi!!! We have over 1200 students in a school meant to hold less than 700. There are over 30 portable classrooms and little to no technology in these classrooms. Our portable classroom is quite small, so space is limited. My students have no computers to use in our classroom; just one teacher computer is available. We desperately need technology for research, remediation, testing, and enrichment! Please consider donating to some "owlstanding" students in 3rd grade!
My Project
When you are trying to learn in an overcrowded school, technology in the classroom can help fill academic gaps or give you access to information that is limited. Our computer labs are used primarily for testing which occurs 3 times per year. It takes a month to 6 weeks to get every class tested. Then there is WIDA testing for ELL students. The STEM teacher has one lab for 12 weeks out if the year, as well. Over 40 teachers are vying to get access to the 2 labs available the remaining days of the year. Needless to say, technology is scarce. Some classrooms have a student computer or two if you're lucky, but our portable classroom has none. Just my teacher computer which is a dinosaur in terms of current technology. Chromebooks would give my students the opportunity to research, learn key boarding, play learning games on frontrow, xtra math, and so much more!
