Owl Pellet Study

My students need owl pellet kits in order to study the structure of a skeleton.

My Students

It is much more exciting to see what you are trying to learn in science. Imagine putting together an actual skeleton of a once living animal while you are studying the skeleton.

The students that we teach are from a rural community in central Arkansas.

Most of these students come from low to middle income families. We are not at will to ask the students to help with supplying items to study in science class due to the low income of most of them.

My Project

While studying the skeleton, we will be able to dissect an owl pellet and put together the animal that an owl once ate. The students will be able to see the structure of the skeleton and learn its function. Being able to do this through dissection, the students will have a much stronger learning experience of the skeleton and its function.

I do believe that allowing the students to have such an opportunity to actually touch and piece back a skeleton will give them a much better understanding of the structure and function of a skeleton.

This will also hopefully lead some students to want to further their education in the field of science.
