The students in my class come from different economic backgrounds. Most of them are from low-income families. My students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. I am looking for experiences to help my students develop an interest in science.
I focus on their potential and growth.
I may not be able to control their home lives; however, I can certainly control their experience during the school day. By doing this in a creative and positive way, I am hoping to inspire my students and develop a curiosity in math and science. I want to provide projects that lead to discussions and new questions.
My Project
These materials will help my students explore STEM projects. We study barn owls and how humans impact the environment. The owl pellets will give students meaning to this project as they work through the challenges. This hands-on experience will motivate reluctant learners to explore new things. Other projects will also give students hands-on engineering opportunities to build bridges and model cars. Students thrive with STEM opportunities. As students work together to solve problems and complete challenges, they learn valuable skills that they will be able to use outside of the classroom. These materials will allow for many STEM opportunities.
