Project based learning and art fuse together to help students fall in love with learning. My students are so excited to learn about owls.
This project supports an integrated unit on storytelling and Northwest coast animals.
Students will get to develop teamwork skills as they dissect an owl pellet with a partner. After they dissect the owl pellets, they will examine the skeletons to reconstruct the owl's prey. They will glue down the skeleton to share with classmates. The print making supplies will be used by students to make prints of owls or prints of their prey's skeleton. As part of this unit of study, they will also make animal masks to be used in plays.
My Project
I chose these resources so that my students will learn about owls by having the opportunity to dissect owl pellets with a partner. They will better understand the owls digestive process and prey by reconstructing a skeleton from one of the pellets. They will use the print making and mask supplies for related art projects. Integrated learning provides more engagement for students and promotes lifelong learning habits.
You are helping science and art come alive in my classroom by donating to this project.
A big emphasis has been placed on science and the arts because they are such important skills for students. This project will help students gain those important skills in science and promote creativity.
