Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Counting, adding, making shapes, and more! My Kindergarten Mathematicians love participating in daily Math Centers!
My Kindergarten class is made up of a 18 eager, unique learners.
They come to school ready to learn despite the obstacles they face prior to stepping foot in the classroom. We are a Title I school, and almost all of my students are English Language Learners
My Project
In my classroom, students spend a portion of their day engaged in math centers. I'm requesting materials that will help enhance their learning of key Kindergarten math concepts such as counting, adding, measurement, and identifying and describing shapes.
My class will be learning about story problems and shapes. The Rekenrek will help students to count to 20, compare numbers, and even decompose numbers! It will also help students to get excited about creating their own story problems. I've also requested shape magnets and Play-Doh. The shape magnets have real world photos on them. These will help students to identify shapes in the world around them. The Play-Doh will come in handy when students are learning how to build 2-D and 3-D shapes. Once students learn how to build the shapes we can learn about their attributes.
The Sequencing Trains Puzzles and Hands-On Number Grid will help students to master counting to 100. It will also help to meet Common Core State Standards.
These exciting tools will help build a strong foundation of Kindergarten Math concepts such as being able to count, measure, and add.
All of the games and materials will help meet the Common Core State Standards
