Overhead Projector for Visual Learning

My students need an overhead projector.

Grades 9-12

Pictures, graphs, and well designed images in an interactive environment can help students learn. I teach in a high-need community of public high school special education students. The students' disabilities require constant visual attention which takes away from one on one time with other students and opportunities to write on the chalk board.

The students have a low range of writing and reading ability but are very visual learners. The students love to look at pictures of the topic's we are discussing and are able to have a better understanding and recall of the events from the information presented by the pictures.

An overhead projector would allow me and the students to continue looking at a variety of pictures, charts, maps and graphs then we normally due. Information can be written out and visual attention could still be maintained with the student's. The class would be able to begin to run smoother due to pre-paired overheads. Students would receive more feed back and a sense of contribution as their answers or questions are written out in front of them and projected onto the screen. This leads to a more Socratic and interactive lesson.

Your assistance will lead to more understanding of historical material and help students empower themselves in seeing that their contributions in class are used.
