This is my first year teaching a GSRP classroom. Every child that is in my classroom comes from an at-risk family or living in poverty. I want to be able to provide a healthy, fun, engaging learning atmosphere.
When I took over the classroom from the retiring teacher, she took a lot of her materials and furniture with her.
I have had to use my personal money to furnish and supply my classroom. In the classroom, we are lacking quality materials. I also have a autistic student, who needs special play dough and materials to use due to severe allergies. This year has been full of craziness, love and learning.
These materials will make a difference during our outside time. Over the last few months many of our balls and activities outside have broke or been lost. Adding in a new basketball hoop with basketballs and pogo sticks will bring in new activities to work on their core strength and gross motor. This is something the students have not had experience with, due to the basketball hoops being too tall. We have had a high interest in the hoops and students wanting to play basketball. Unfortunately the side with the hoops are off limits. Bringing this opportunity to our playground would be very beneficial for our students.
