My students need lab coats and safety glasses to bring science to life in the classroom.

The students in my classroom come from all over the world. They speak four different languages and are all unique in their own way. The one thing that is universal is that they are all excited to learn. They come to school each day with a smile on their face and a story to share.
40% of my students are English Language Learners.
This means that they do not speak English as their first language. 10% of my students do not speak any English at all. 90% of the students live at or below the poverty line and 100% of the students at our school receive free breakfast, lunch, and snack while at school each day.
In my classroom, we begin with the basics. We learn how to write our names and to identify the letters of the alphabet. We learn our shapes and how to count. We also learn how to get along and to be kind to one another. We create a community that is our own where we can all learn together no matter where we come from.
Students will get to experience real hands on science experiments while looking the part. Allowing the students to become scientists will make science more exciting! If you are going to be a scientist you should look like a scientist!
STEM is an important part of students learning.
By giving the students these lab coats and glasses, they will understand the importance of this subject area and see how serious they need to take it. The glasses allow the students to understand the importance of safety when conducting experiments. No experiment will be done without following our safety procedures. Also, the lab coats bring the learning to life and allow the students to fully engage in the activity and subject area. It is important to make learning fun and exciting, especially for Kindergartners!
