My students need a water pump, funnel stand, and a block and tackle to expand our outdoor learning space to include mud, water, sand, and other sensory discovery.
Our early childhood school is now in its tenth year serving the community. In our Pre-K class, that means over 180 students will have come and gone from this Pre-K classroom. Along with that, many other students have called our room home for enrichment classes, after-school programs, and summer camp.
Families send their precious children to our class every day, for us to help them take those first steps towards accomplishing great feats.
Children make this room their home for however long they stay and miss it dearly when they move on. It's something we take pride in, and we hope to continue doing what we love to do and that nurtures their love for learning.
I've been teaching at my first and current school for six years. No matter who enters through that door, they are part of our school family. I hope to provide them with the absolute best education we can offer.
My Project
Children are curious about everything they can explore using their senses. If you watch a newborn baby, they are learning and exploring using their five senses. The simple input we take for granted is the first teacher that an infant learns from as it begins to explore the world. We deny our children from learning about their curiosity and what intrigues them because someone believes that binding them to a desk in a classroom in order to pass a test is considered learning and is what best prepares them for the future.
Have you ever watched a child become fascinated with a puddle of water created by the rain?
Watching them step, jump, create, manipulate, and explore. The curiosity of how the world works inspired by a simple puddle. Children are naturally curious and creative when the outside world is their classroom.
We are very fortunate to have an outdoor space that caters to student learning. Whether they wish to explore how water moves at our water table, create and mold sand in the sandbox, or make somewhat appetizing dishes at the mud kitchen, the outdoor playground is filled with opportunities to dive into questions or inquiries our students may have.
The water pump, funnel stand, and block and tackle will allow our kids to further explore the different areas of our playground. The water pump will benefit the garden and mud kitchen by keeping plants watered and turn soil into mud. The funnel stand will help our explorers sift through sand and make undiscovered discoveries. The block and tackle will help our kids learn about weight and gravity using these sensory materials.
Your support will help our kids appreciate our outdoor space even more and allow them to enjoy the fresh air at the same time.
