The majority of my students are experiencing school for the first time. This can be scary and overwhelming for the majority of them. They come from low-income backgrounds and families who are worried about providing an education for them and worried about putting food on the table. They are loving children who are eager to learn and want to explore the world around them.
Having a classroom that is engaging and welcoming is very important to me.
If my classroom is home-like then the children are more apt to learn and have a wonderful time. Making a positive experience for their new adventure in schooling is the key to making a successful student.
I want to make sure every child feels welcome and secure. Having them feel that they have ownership in the classroom makes all the difference in the world and is key in helping them be comfortable and able to learn.
My Project
Help me bring science outside for my students. My goal is to make outdoor science exploration kits for the children to grab and take outside.
Having magnifying glasses, tweezers, bug catchers and magnets can help my students explore their outdoor play area.
They will be able to investigate their surroundings and we can build upon their knowledge of the world around them.
These tools will help us meet our standards such as exploring the life sciences, physical science and earth and space. I am so excited for them to investigate and become the scientists I know that they can be.
