My students need an outdoor learning station. We would like an outdoor comfy couch and chair. This area would provide students with the ability to make independent choices as to where they can learn best.
Imagine walking to a classroom where the students practiced courtesy and grace on a daily basis. That is exactly what my precious students do each day. They are kind, generous, respectful to each other and their environment, and they enjoy hardwork. Each one exhibits intrinsic motivation to gain knowledge from their surrounding environment. The search for self-discovery is evident upon entering my classroom. Even though their home lives may not be ideal, they come to school ready to learn and work each and every day. That is worthy of an environment they love!
My Project
Albert Einstein said, "I never teach my pupils, I only provide them with the conditions in which they can learn." This is exactly what I want to provide my students, a place where they can learn outdoors. Not every student excels at being indoors while reading, studying math facts, writing in their journal or participating in a class discussion. My classroom has a small grassy area right outside the door with a picket fence surrounding it. This seating would allow my learners to go outdoors during independent learning time or when we have an outdoor learning discussion.
Outdoor learning areas provide a pathway for learners to excel.
Howard Gardener believed in multiple intelligences. He believed that people have innate abilities to learn when they are met with their learning style: naturalistic, spatial, tactile, visual, interpersonal, intrapersonal, tactile-kinesthetic, and musical. These learners need an chance to learn their way. Please help us by giving us an outdoor learning environment.
