This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
"The world is the true classroom. The most rewarding and important type of learning is through experience, seeing something with our own eyes." Jack Hanna
FATE is a quaint little school in a neighborhood that feels like a small town in a big city.
The classes are small and everyone is treated like family. The majority of students come from low-income households and have limited resources, yet we have an extremely active PTA. We take great pride in the level of parental involvement at FATE.
My Project
I am requesting four folding tables that are just the right size for kindergarten students. I am hoping to get my students outside for more learning opportunities. My classroom door opens out to a beautiful porch and greenspace that can be used for center activities. I currently set up four tables of activities in my classroom for both reading and math, but it occurred to me that I could take these same activities outside into the sunshine. The folding tables are easy to store inside and to take out when we need them.
My students will benefit from having more time outside in structured learning centers and will develop an understanding that learning can take place anywhere.
They need time in the sunshine while learning through play.
