My students need Outdoor Sand and Water activities to encourage exploration, creativity and continued learning while outside. These resources will encourage gross motor skills while acquiring literacy and math skills.
I teach Pre-K at an Early Childhood School in Texas. My class is a Blended class consisting of At-Risk students based on income, English is their second language, or they are special needs. My students are faced with many challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the challenges they face, I am looking to provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences.
My students are creative, energetic and always ready to experience something new!
They love to move, read, and learn! Many of them are being raised in single parent households and ALL of my students receive a free breakfast/lunch based on their socioeconomic status. These things may prevent them from getting ahead early in life and may not provide them with the life experiences many of us see as "typical". From the minute they walk in the door of my classroom I focus on their potential and growth while they are with me. I may not be able to control their home lives, however, I can certainly control their experience during the school day. My goal is to inspire even our earliest students to become lifelong learners!
My Project
I am requesting resources for our schools Outdoor Learning Center!
These resources will help promote cognitive, physical, social and emotional well-being.
Through play children can experiment, solve problems, think creatively and learn to cooperate with others.
The sand and water activities (Float and Find Alphabet, Sift and Find letters, Sift and Find Numbers) will encourage fine motor and gross motor skills as well as literacy and math. The Design and Build Water Blocks will promote creativity, problem solving as well as cooperation with others. The Big Bubble Kit will teach science concepts such as elasticity, surface tension, chemistry, light, and even geometry. The students will engage in processes such as observation, experimentation, investigation, and discovery simply by studying bubbles. The Magnetic Fishing set will help with literacy as well as hand eye coordination. Finally, the Knock Down Numbers will promote gross motor skills as well as number recognition.
