My co-teacher and I have not been able to meet our class yet due to COVID-19. Normally, our school has a "Moving Up Day" where students meet their next year's teacher ahead of time. Moving Up Day allows students to see their new classroom, classmates, and teachers in a supported environment. Once Moving Up Day is finished, students return to their current teacher to share their experiences and have closure. This process helps ease the stress of transitioning on children.
Despite not having met our students yet, my co-teacher and I are determined to make First Grade a wonderful experience for our little learners!
We are looking forward to teaching our students in person. We are excited to meet these bright, kind, helpful, and amazing children!
My Project
Our "classroom backyard" is the perfect place to learn while outside! How many First Graders can say that they have a classroom backyard? Our class will have lots of space not only to learn but explore their surroundings.
Students are more successful learning when they feel comfortable and safe!
The supplies requested are intended to support these little learners by giving them what they need to possess those feelings. The better they feel while at school, the more positive their learning and experiences will be!
The portable lap desks allow students to have their own seat and desk top while learning outside. The 2 outdoor chairs allow my co-teacher and me the opportunity to sit with the kids instead of hovering over them. The 6 foot parachutes provide a socially distanced area for each student. Parachutes can be used for class picnics, exercise, games, as a means to be socially distanced 6 feet apart, and a space to sit when lap desks are not needed. This year, special area teachers will be coming to our classroom. How great would it be if they were able to take our class outside for specials? The 6 foot parachutes would help quickly space kids appropriately and provide them with an experience they never had before with their special area teachers! An added bonus is that all these supplies can also be utilized inside.
