This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I have 12 special needs 4-5 year old children in my classroom who come from low-income families. Their disabilities range from speech and language impaired to otherwise health impaired. Due to some physical impairments, their gross motor and fine motor skills are affected. They are loving, energetic, eager to learn little ones who need outdoor gear for the winter, so we can do gross motor movements outside.
The students enjoy running around, playing on the playground equipment, and riding bikes during warmer months, but are unable to go outside in the snow due to not having appropriate snow gear.
My Project
The materials I am asking for will already be put to good use. During the winter months, I would like to take the students outside for gross motor activities. However, most of the children do not have the proper attire to go outside with. I would like to have a classroom set of winter gear in the form of snow bibs so that everyone can go outside and enjoy the snow.
Outside fun during the winter month will not only help with "cabin fever", but it will also help the students with getting exercise, by being able to run and play in the snow.
Getting a classroom set of snow pants will help with this.
