I am the luckiest teacher in the universe because my classroom is home to some of East Fort Worth's most brilliant and brave scholars. However, the reality is, based on the area I serve, many of them come to school without the necessary tools and materials that will set them up for success. Still, everyday they bring those bright smiling faces to our doors, eager and excited about the possibilities they know will come through their daily learning and explorations.
As educators we are charged with one of the most important jobs in the world, shaping the minds and hearts of the future leaders of our nation. This year our campus is exhilarated to serve as home to 135 eager and brilliant 5th grade scholars who yearn daily for knowledge and life altering experiences. Our goal this school year is to provide these scholars with an outdoor education opportunity where they will be able to connect nature to their science, math, and reading curriculum. We have been approved to attend a 2-day, 1 night Outdoor Education Program that is sure to be a memorable experience for the students, teachers, chaperones.
The students we serve are predominately low-income which would make acquiring $85 (transportation included) in order to take advantage of this experience nearly impossible.
As a result, we are exploring all avenues for fundraising. This includes reaching out to our beloved family, friends, and other humanitarians. If you are able to sponsor a student or give a donation of any amount, you can help make this opportunity a reality for our scholars.
