Help me give my students an EiE inquiry-based engineering design process curriculum that will help teach students thinking and reasoning skills needed for success.
I teach gifted middle school students who need an educational environment beyond that offered in the regular school program. This type of programming requires a differentiated instructional approach which involves teaching methods that encourage higher cognitive processes and concepts.
We are doing what we can to address 21st-Century Skills in our classroom.
They need instruction and materials that will challenge their minds and nurture their love of learning. A majority of the time that many students spend in public schools is focused on reading and writing. Of course, literacy is of critical importance to success as a student and as a contributing citizen. However, with limited time in the school day, many students are missing out on time spent on hands-on, interactive science and engineering explorations.
My Project
Our students are preparing for jobs that don't yet exist in a world that we can't even picture! Teaching them to think critically and flexibly is a key part of modern education. This kit will help me reach my students in an engaging and effective way. Instead of reading about problems to solve, my student will instead be engaged in an interactive scenario that will require them to think critically, collaborate together, and apply the knowledge that they are learning in their core content areas. These STEM kits have everything that we need to get started on this new and exciting educational endeavor!
