I last saw my first grade crew in person on March 12th, and oh how I miss them! Thank goodness I'll get to see them again (sometime after early-February) but only this time? They'll be second graders! I am so fortunate to be looping with my crew (meaning that I'll move to second grade with them!)
There may be an indeterminate break in face-to-face teaching, but I know my crew and they are inquisitive, enthusiastic, endearing, enchanting, and, of course, just the right amount of mischievous!
I wish that I could hit the fast-forward button on COVID-19 so that I could see them in person right now! In time we will be able to come together and continue building our classroom community. Until then, we'll rely on technology to bring us together. But be it face-to-face or on a screen, this group has stolen my heart!
My Project
The last time that I met with my students in person, I sent them home with a high five and the assumption that I would see them again for class the following Monday. Cue distance learning, and now markers, crayons, scissors, and math supplies were just sitting in my classroom, gathering dust, while students were sitting at home without access to supplies. It just made sense to share my supplies with them.
Now face-to-face learning is looming on the horizon, and I need to replenish many of those classroom supplies that I sent home for my students.
This way, when I finally do get to greet and teach my students in person, I'll have the supplies that I need to relaunch our in-person learning.
