The students at my school are simply amazing! We are from a small, rural area historically known as "Mayberry." Our school consists of over 500 students eager to learn and do their best. We are a Title I school and serve 80% of our students with free or reduced-price lunch. A lot of students come from single-income families and face difficulties each day. However, no matter what their home environment consists of, it never stops our students from arriving at school ready to achieve and meet their next goal!

My Project
Our ancient classroom just underwent a major renovation. We went from an old, musky, dark classroom to a fresh and bright new classroom. In our old classroom, we had little to no storage. When you walked into our classroom it felt chaotic because of all the furniture we had to take in to hold our supplies. Now when you walk in, we have tons of new, built-in storage places, but nothing to store the items actually inside of.
My students get excited about the smallest things!
Two basic life skill I try to promote in my classroom is organization and structure. Some of our students live such chaotic lives, that I want them to come to school and feel a since of peace. Structure and organization creates this for them. With these storage bins, students will have a place for everything in our classroom. They will use these bins to put books, games, manipulatives, and other educational items in to help keep them stay organized. Also, by using these bins, students will be able to independently access items. Creating independence in kindergarten is a huge milestone that our students become very proud of themselves for!
