My Students

Teaching students eager to learn and explore encourages me to consistently expose them to hands-on, engaging, active projects and challenges. My students are in Kindergarten through 5th grade. With this wide range of ages, I constantly strive to find STEAM activities for all ages and interests.

My students come from diverse backgrounds with a wide variety of life experiences.

Because of this, we collaborate and practice the Engineering Design Process to build, create, design, and problem solve. My goal - to create life-long learners.

My Project

Flexible areas, such as a makerspace or "FabLab" helps students develop creative and analytic thinking skills while teaching basic problem solving. Building perseverance is an advantage of having a flexible learning area because with the freedom to practice the Engineering Design Process students learn that trying and failing and re-trying are all part of the learning process. A flexible area also inspires further investigation by allowing students the freedom to explore ideas that have peaked their curiosity. This makerspace or "FabLab" gives students a chance to rethink concepts they have formed and explore different ways to solve the same problem. Consequently, students are able to apply these skills to all academic areas and to life.

Removing the outdated, boring stationary tables and replacing them with round MarkerBoard tables allow students to have an area that is flexible for hands-on STEAM projects.

This collaborative area will encourage expression and conversation, facilitate ideas and innovation, relate lessons to real world situations, and provide memorable learning that improves understanding. This type of flexible space for learning and exploring will create students who grow up to be life-long learners.
