My Students
The school I teach in is a Title I school. We have lower SOE status than most neighborhoods/families. This means our students and their families qualify for free and reduced meals (breakfast and lunch).
Our school created a garden program through a health initiative.
Each grade level has their own garden space. This has engaged students and brought soft skills into the classroom. Cooking and eating healthy is a bonus too!
Students in fourth grade are ready to dig deeper with their knowledge in computer sciences and mathematics.
My Project
In the upcoming school year, students need more choice. They need more choice in where they sit, how they share their work, and be creative. My current whiteboards are scratched and falling apart. New ones will help engage students no matter where they are sitting or who they are working with. They can respond without using paper, which helps the environment. Some students that find traditional chairs uncomfortable have another option now besides the floor. The flex seating chairs will excite students to work in other areas of the classroom. Students will be more engaged and excited to learn with these new resources.
