Out With the Old, In With the New! Dry Erase Boards, Please!
My students need 36 dry erase boards.
This project expired on December 16, 2014.
Hooray! This project is fully funded
A first grade classroom is an exciting place to be! This is the time of year where reading really begins to soar or reading adventures reach new heights! Lifelong friendships are made and laughter is always near by! Help our journey along, read on!
We are a rural school located about 35 miles from Duluth, Minn.
We are surrounded by organic vegetable farms, dairy farms, a state park and miles of hay fields. Our school has approximately 320 students total, with PreK-12 all in the same building! It's a strong community with strong bonds!
Like most things in our life, such as cell phones, furniture, cars, clothing, etc., they begin to not function like they were meant. Over time things begin to wear and tear. This can happen often in a classroom! Currently in my classroom I am using dry erase boards that are at least ten years old and no longer have the very versatile writing lines on them anymore. The boards are scratched and beat up; they are also only one-sided.
I use the whiteboards DAILY! Every morning we use the boards to practice writing sight words, spelling, phonics skills and vocabulary. The boards also get used during our math problem of the day problem, various science and social studies lessons as well just for fun! (The students really enjoy dry erase boards!) Wow, it's no wonder the current boards are looking shabby! It's a high use item that makes learning environmentally friendly (less paper wasted), unique and fun!
Not only are the current dry erase boards in serious rough shape, I also will not have enough for my students this coming school year!
With a larger class size coming my way, I want to make sure that their classroom has all the materials they will need! These boards are a key item in the classroom and will make a difference in a big way!
