Hooray! This project is fully funded

As you and I are both using the Internet, we both understand how technology plays a huge role in our society today. Imagine not being able to find more information about something using a search engine, not being able to communicate, or not being able to create and edit your resume; our lives would be very different. It is my job, as an educator, to prepare my students with the tools and knowledge necessary to become successful in the real-world. In a school atop Potrero Hill, those who attend do not live nearly as beautifully as the neighborhood would suggest. Our school separates three predominant ethnicities (Asian, Hispanic, and African American) into classrooms so that instruction can be delivered in their primary language. The 20 students in my 4th grade classroom are mostly African American, and come from government subsidized housing in the well-known Hunter's Point. These 9-year olds come from families that do not have the resources to purchase computers, thus does not give these students many opportunities to learn to become successful in our technology-based society. I would like to expose my students to our advanced society by being able to show them how to use the Internet and various computer programs on my current computer using a LCD projector. Students will be able to be directed how to use a computer as a tool, using it for daily situations in which we might need it (ie., looking up a word definition, looking up information on a concept such as California Missions using Google or Yahoo!, communicating with organizations, and presenting a power-point presentation). Although I am willing to use my computer for this proposed project, neither myself nor our school has the resources to purchase a LCD projector. On behalf of myself, school and students, we would greatly appreciate the funding of this LCD projector to enhance opportunities for our students to become successful individuals in the real-world. Thank you for your consideration and generosity.
