In my classroom, I teach 8th - 12th-grade student math. There are close to 100 students who pass through my room each day. The students that come into my room have high expectations of their teacher, themselves, and the classroom environment. They come each day prepared to learn and to work hard. There is excitement about coming to class ready to take on a challenge. The students at my school deserve the best we can give them.
My Project
My school in South Dakota is in a growing district with growing class sizes. My middle school/high school math classroom is getting full of desks which makes it very hard to move around the room for students and teachers. The desks are wall to wall right now. I would like to move the current desks out and make more flexible seating with tables and chairs. This would accommodate more collaboration among students and give the room more space to move. This project would include 7 square desks and 30 desk chairs. This would make a world of difference for space in the room.
