My students need to publish their writing assignments. Having a classroom co-located printer will encourage students to engage with each other earlier in the writing process, allowing them collaboration and productivity.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are eager to learn and yearn for in-depth experiences in the classroom. They want to broaden their understanding of the world and need access to a modern day curriculum to compete with peers from affluent and educated backgrounds.
My objective is to provide high-interest resources so that my students are motivated in the classroom and have an opportunity to achieve their personal and academic goals.
As a teacher in a high poverty school district, our students are faced with challenges both in and out of the classroom. They come from a variety of economic backgrounds; about 55% of our 2,000 students receive free lunch and 69% are socioeconomically disadvantaged. Our ethnically diverse student body is roughly 70% Latino, 13% African American, 14% white, and about 2% Asian and Filipino. Many students have jobs after school, and a large percentage are being raised in single parent households. Despite these challenges, my students value their education. They take all the courses as required by the University of California or California State University. They are engaged learners and believe in themselves. Most want to further their education beyond high school and will thrive with proper guidance and relevant classroom material.
My Project
Writing is an almost daily activity in my classes. Unfortunately, my students currently have no co-located printer in our classroom. The nearest print resources are in the library. However, these resources are not always available.
Being able to print their writing instantly, using a wireless printer, allows my students to publish, share and collaborate much earlier in the writing process, thereby increasing their enthusiasm and productivity, all of which increase their odds for academic success.
A technology-rich environment engages students and encourages my students to become active learners and improves their performance. Please help my students achieve their full academic potential. Having a classroom co-located printer and ink will encourage students to engage with each other earlier in the writing process, allowing them collaboration and productivity.
