My Students
My students are middle school students of great diversity from a low-income urban area with a large percentage of special needs students. Each year, 90% of my students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch. Because of limited funds, basics are difficult to keep in my classroom. Keeping the children motivated and connected to the world is an everyday challenge.
My students with special needs are given the opportunity to celebrate their elementary education in style.

My Project
The whole purpose of prom, or any school-sponsored formal, is to give young people the chance to develop their social skills. This is especially important for my students with special needs. Because it is difficult for the district to fund, and it is often difficult or nearly impossible for the families to come up with the money, teachers often help pay for gowns, suits and often the cost of the dance.
It is my wish to make this formal experience one that my students will never forget!
I want to have a beautiful balloon wall where the students can take pictures in front of. They will have memories for the rest of their lives! Ordering one from a professional is extremely expensive, so I will make it myself. I need the help of DonorsChoose and wonderful donors out there to supply the balloons, air tank, glue and fishing wire so I could make the balloon wall.
