My kindergartners come to school with the anticipation of learning to read! I get to see so many doors open up for them as they fall in love with books, read their first words and go places they never thought possible!
My students are beginning readers!
They are active and eager kindergartners who are beginning their journey in education. They are curious about everything and love to discover new things on their own. My students come from working class families, so school is like a second home to them since they are in a full day kindergarten. Many also stay in the after school program because their parents work. They are attending a charter school, where we promote and believe in college for everyone
My Project
We are asking for a shelf to hold our library. Books are by far our most important resource in the classroom and we need a strong shelf to keep them organized and accessible. Kindergartners needs to be able to locate the books they need quickly and easily. By adding a shelf, we will be able to better categorize our books so that the students can find what they need. Then they can spend more time reading and less time searching!
We know that reading is the most important thing students can do in order to learn, grow and succeed.
By having an organized library, my students will have access to more books, and they will be able to find them easily and independently. Kindergartners are curious and motivated by nature, having a wide selection of books encourages them to explore and develop their interests. By fostering a love and respect for books now, my students will be set up for success in education!
