My students need a stand to hold up their iPad and a bean bag chair to sit in as a reward. They also need materials to help them with comprehension and multiplication.
A typical day in my resource room is very busy and productive. My students are active, happy and truly interested in learning. No two days are like another with students having unique needs each day. 86% of my students are boys and they are enthusiastic and hard working 7th and 6th graders.
Our school is committed to helping all students become responsible, independent, caring and contributing members of a changing society.
We have a vision statement that says that every student will achieve academic and personal success. My classroom is 6/7 grade resource room designed to help students bridge the gap and achieve personal success. They have a variety of disabilities ranging from ADHD, autism or learning disabilities. Each one requires an individualized plan to help them be successful.
My Project
The iPad stands will be used on a daily basis to hold up their iPads when they are reading and utilizing the technology. The multiplication machine will be useful for my students who need extra practice with their multiplication skills. They will stay engaged with it because it is hands-on and gives instant results. Having a beanbag chair in the classroom will be great as a reward incentive. Only those students who have earned the privilege will be allowed to sit in it. The nonfiction comprehension cards are a tool that can be handy for those students who are finished with their work and need a useful activity to do. The classroom mood filters will create a calm environment that has the low lighting which is helpful for my students who have difficulties concentrating. Lastly, the books for classroom management will make me a better teacher and make the classroom a better place for my students.
This project will make a difference because it will provide those items that will be so helpful in the classroom.
The students all have iPads in our district, unfortunately the stands on the cases have taken a beating and many of them are broken. We used books and other items to hold up the iPads last year. The stands will be used on a daily basis to hold those iPads upright in a position that is most useful. The classroom will be a better environment overall with these items added to it.
