Help me give my students a virtual classroom by having a table to do hands-on activities, and the easel to display charts, writing, and other learning materials.
My students come from low income homes. We have 11 children going to Kindergarten in the fall, and the last 3 months are crucial to getting them prepared for those transitions. However, with the coronavirus pandemic, they don't get that valuable learning experience. Not to mention that all of our students are missing the valuable time in the classroom to help prepare them for Kindergarten success!
This is a new learning experience for everyone that has not only the students learning new things but the teachers as well!
We are using Class Tag to teach the children. This has been difficult because we do have some children without the technology to join. It's been difficult as a teacher not having materials at home to help with online learning. Also, a lot of the online learning is geared toward K-12. I'm constantly scrounging online to find activities and learning experiences.
I have a few books that I record myself reading. I just learned how to use ZOOM to record myself doing games and reading from my Kindle app which I share all of this on Class Tag and our program's Facebook page for other children.
My Project
The dry erase easel would be used to write, hang posters/pictures, and other learning materials that I can reference during my recorded learning sessions. The table will provide me a place to record myself doing arts & crafts and other hands-on materials. And with the art materials on hand, I will be able to show them how to do fun art creations.
I want to still be a part of their learning and show them that I didn't and will never forget about them!
The children deserve to still continue their leaning process during this unprecedented time! With these materials, I can provide the activities that I haven't been able to do since being in the classroom. Children learn by watching, and this way I can record myself doing activities that they could do at home.
