Help me give my students a functional library, so they can have the opportunity to read books that are on their level. My students would love to have the opportunity to check out a book.
I have a classroom of high functioning, special needs kiddos. They love to learn, but not by just sitting and listening to lectures; they learn best by being hands-on and seeing the stories in pictures. I have a classroom with behavior kiddos, so keeping them focused and interested is very important.
My students are special needs kids and they are high functioning, which means that they learn in different ways.
We are a Therapeutic Education Program. We specialize in students with aggressive behavior. We are part of an ISD and we get the kiddos from all over the district that are in special education and have trouble being in a regular school. A majority of our kids come from a residential treatment center which means they are foster kids in group home, so often we play the role of teacher and parent. I absolutely love my kids and I want the best for them.
My Project
We are a behavior program and we are a small school. We do not have a lot of the things that a regular schools have. And one of those things is a Library, my students would love to be able to go to the "library" and check out a book.
My students would be able to get the opportunity to check out and read a book with this rolling library.
The cart and the bins make everything very accessible, with the system of difficulty already in place and on the the bins I can direct the students to the appropriate books. And the system makes it easy for kids to find the books they can read and would enjoy reading.
The check out chart will keep track of what each student has read and what books they ahve been checking out
