My students need a color copier, a CD player/recorder and dress-up clothes.

My students are a bright crew of 18 preschoolers. They are as busy as honeybees on a honeycomb and are open to new and exciting experiences. They know how to learn and they soak up academics like a colossal sponge! Of course, they also love to laugh as they learn!
I have a highly inquisitive crop of kids this year.
As such, I am sure it would be engaging to dress up as community helpers. Let's make it happen!

Our students will explore the various professions in our school community and will identify them by their professional dress. Students will have the opportunity to interview these visitors and will take class pictures with them. We will use the CD player to record the interview and re-play the interview later in the classroom as well as for other interested teachers and students. Photos will be taken during the interview and printed using the color copier. Dress-up clothes of various professions (e.g., doctor, police) will be stored within interest areas for students to use. Hopefully, students will reflect upon these interview experiences and will build upon their reflections in terms of how people work together in our community. There will be a follow-up letter of thanks with two enclosures: the interview on a CD and a class picture (in color) reflecting that profession.
Students will grow to identify professionals and appreciate the larger community that nurtures and sustains them and their families.
The world of the students will grow exponentially and their sense of "connectedness" will grow in tandem. My greatest hope is that students will be inspired and impressed by the visitors to the point that they will desire to be doctors, dentists, dance instructors, etc. when they grow up!
