Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Although our situation is far from ideal, my kindergartners come to school every day excited and eager to learn. In our tiny trailer, set apart from the main building, these 5 year old are loved and cared for by a teacher who wants the best for each one. We are smack dab in the middle of an inner city, replete with high crime and poverty. All my students qualify for free breakfast and lunch. Some are new to this country and language barriers impede the learning process. A high contingent are special needs. No matter the diverse background, they share one thing in common. All deserve a chance to succeed.
My Project
Kindergarten is a time to shape the way children view education and give them positive lifelong memories. This is the ideal time to teach them to LOVE school! Without resources, that's impossible! The prehistoric dinosaur computers we have in our classroom are broken, work one day and not the next and need to become extinct. There just isn't the funding in our budget for new kindergarten computers. These Samsung Chrome Books are a necessity for my students, we are so behind in our technology learning because of the dinosaur computers we have in our classroom. The new Chrome Books will be just what we need to get us out of the Jurassic Age!
