My Students

I teach physical education to all students from kindergarten through fifth grade at our school. My students come from all socioeconomic backgrounds but have one thing in common...a love for fun physical activity.

Our students live in a semi-rural area with limited opportunities.

Our students attend a Title I elementary school in our district with almost 500 students; 53% of our students receive free or reduced-cost lunch.

My Project

Our students enjoy the physical activities during P.E. each week. Whether it is playing basketball, capturing the flag, or playing dodgeball, healthy competition motivates them. We would like four pickleball sets to use outdoors.

Pickleball is a great game to develop hand eye coordination, reaction time, and most importantly cooperation skills.

Players will learn valuable teamwork and sportsmanship skills. Pickleball is an easy game to learn so students of all different athletic abilities can play with success.

There are many retirees in our community who play pickleball. We would like to build some partnerships by asking for volunteers to come and work with our students to build their skills and knowledge of pickleball. This could be a great activity to bring our community together!
