Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Each year I am blessed to serve unique individuals. Therefore, I can tell you that my students are loving, kind, creative and full of energy. They are always eager to learn new things. I am proud of my students because they never give up under any circumstances.
Many students in my classroom come in saying they don't have a nice/quiet corner to read because of their living situation.
We are part of a school where 93% of students are economically disadvantaged. Completing any reading assignment is a challenge for my students because they lack the resources back at home. In addition, they don't have a quiet and comfortable place to read independently. Even though they have those difficulties, my students are full of hope and passion. I am so glad to have such inspiring students in my classroom.
My Project
We always tend to look for a comfortable yet nice corner in our home to read quietly. Students do too. I believe that every reading classroom should provide this space for students because it will help improve the motivation and engagement in the classroom. Using the bean bag, comfy floor seat and the wobble cushion will help create a safe place to calm down and unwind. The comfort of these seats will allow my students to focus on taking in new information. Likewise, the items will also promote a relaxing and inviting reading corner for my students.
Creating a spot in the classroom where students can read in comfort is essential because it helps them develop lifelong reading habits.
By donating to our project, you will give my students that special space to read freely. They will have access to our wide range of books to choose from during their Daily 5 rotations. As we all know, the more children experience books the more they will gain the interest and passion for them. Reading offers so much more than just a quiet time in a cozy corner. It will help develop spelling, listening, writing, literacy and social skills that would be used throughout their lives.
