Our Students Need to Have Ownership Over Their Personal Health.
My students need backpacks and lunch bags so they can carry school supplies to and from school, as well as healthy snacks and personal hygiene supplies to help them stay healthy.
The kids at my school are creative, funny, happy, hardworking and practice a growth mindset. They support each other, work hard, and take pride in their learning. Sometimes, though, it's hard for them to focus in school because their home life is challenging.
Children should not have to worry about getting their basic needs met at home.
This project will support low-income and homeless students so that they can have age-appropriate school and personal hygiene supplies, as well as some healthy snacks to take home.
My Project
This project is not MINE, it belongs to the whole building. Each year we have a number of students who are homeless, or live at or below the poverty level. They come to school needing more than other kids and we often send them home with more than other kids.
Last year, we started sending kids home with backpacks full of food.
This year, we would like to provide them with other essentials that may be hard for them to get. These include hygiene products (soap, shampoo, toothpaste/toothbrush) as well as socks, gloves, and healthy snacks. These items help kids be more independent about their personal health.
