I teach in the Soundview Neighborhood in the Bronx at a school called Bronx Tech. Despite the name Bronx Tech, my school is limited in the arena of technology. It took weeks before computers were put into my classroom, and when they were, all of them were not functioning properly. It took one of my students to get us into the position where we now have three out of four working. My school has a low graduation rate and an even lower college admission rate. These stats are directly related to the adversity my kids face in their home environment, and due to the lack of resources at school. With that said, now, having three computers working ? WE NEED A PRINTER. My next main project for the students will be learning to fill out a college application. Nowadays college applications are most commonly submitted by printing the application from the school website directly. At this point we cannot do that at my school with the resources that we have. This is the main reason as far as timeliness is concerned for my proposal. Other, equally important impacts having a computer would have are the following: -Students without a printer at home would be able to print out their assignments here at school. -Students would be able to do research at school. -I would more easily be able to give the students more time with my lesson plans by being able to save a half an hour out of my day. -General, miscellaneous printing abilities
