We are located in an extremely overcrowded elementary school in New York. We work very hard and appreciate learning through laughter, fun, and play. It is a long school day when all we do is sit in our seats and work.
You often hear an explosion of laughter coming from my classroom.
Second grade is an awesome place for any child to be. I am a second grade teacher for a very eager and excitable group of children. I am truly a lucky teacher.
My Project
Somewhere around 10:00 I start to hear children muttering "when is lunch" or "I don't feel good." I know it is due to hunger and we do stop for a snack. The problem is more than half the parents don't provide their child with a snack. In one week, I have gone through a huge tub of animal crackers. I hate to see anyone hungry but I simply can not afford to buy snacks for my class. This is the reason I am asking for a variety of snacks. Imagine being able to give a hungry five year old a bag of healthy cookies.
Once everyone has satisfied their hunger, we can continue to learn for another two hours.
That is a big chunk of time in our school day. Please help me students contain their hunger and continue to learn. A snack a day is the perfect solution. Thank you for your consideration.
