Help me give my students the opportunity to see animals and their habitats at the Naples Zoo; things that until now they have only seen in books or in movies!

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Do you remember the excitement of going on a field trip when you were in school? I want to give my students that excitement of new experiences. We live in a rural community, where most of my students never have the chance to see things beyond the river that borders the town, except for once a year during Special Olympics. My students also have physical limitations and/or challenging behaviors which adds another layer of difficulty for their parents to give them even ordinary experiences. I am not only asking for my class, but for the special needs classes of the 3 elementary schools, middle and high schools, 60 students in all.
I believe the every child has capabilities, talents, and strengths; sometimes, all it takes is exposure or motivation.
The students in our classes strive for excellence. They all inherently care about one another and continually make an effort to improve in all aspects.
My Project
The students will have the opportunity to socially interact with students from other schools, ride a bus, read a map, enjoy a lunch at the picnic tables, see animals from around the world, and ride in a boat around Monkey Island.
All students deserve the opportunity to explore the world around them.
When we take our classes to the Naples Zoo they will experience a world they have only read about in books or seen in movies. They have the opportunity to develop vocabulary, to make a connection between the word tiger and a real tiger, and experience a world like one they have never seen.
