Our School Needs Intersectional and Inclusive Texts!
Help me give my students diverse, inclusive, and bilingual texts that make them feel valued!
This project expired on February 10, 2020.
Hooray! This project is fully funded
We are a diverse school filled with students who are curious, creative, and eager to learn. We value all of our students and their many identities.
For many of our students, the school is a safe place that provides a second home where they feel welcomed, valued, accepted, and loved.
Our school has a heavy focus on allyship and what it means to create a safe space where ALL students feel a sense of belonging. Our students strive to be allies to one another every day.
My students love to read. They yearn for great new books that represent their lives, histories, and cultures. The books currently on our shelves do not truly nor fully represent our student population.
Representation in books empowers and supports students’ academic success.
My goal is that students see themselves in the books they read. Our population is wonderfully diverse and thus our books should be as well. Diverse books give my students opportunity to read about lives different than theirs’ and grow in their empathy for others.
Your donation would impact our entire school, giving us fifty titles that will make students feel valued, accepted, and most importantly, empowered and visible.
