Help me give my students Acer Chromebooks with Google Chrome Education Licenses to give them a chance at success in a world so heavily reliant on technology.

I teach 20 highly unique 2nd graders with a great variety of interests and strengths. My students are all very active, curious, and creative thinkers. They truly have a special degree of resilience and an ability to adapt to their changing environment and a strong desire to succeed in spite of their circumstances.
My classroom is very unique in that 5 out of my 20 learners have individualized educational plans or require modifications or special services.
We have an english language learner as well. My students have an incredible ability to help each other to succeed, regardless of differences in learning styles or specific needs.
My second graders have a willingness to learn and grow in an environment that may be very different from what your average second grader is use to. They do not complain about their circumstances and I love that they are able to hold onto a positive attitude; however, they deserve so much more.
My students face a variety of challenges that most children should never and probably will never be exposed to. Living in one of our state's most impoverished communities presents these children with a number of issues including a lack of food, clothing, and ADEQUATE learning materials. These children are placed at a disadvantage from day one as they fight for their education, using materials that a well beyond outdated. Our classroom has very little technology and students do not have the opportunity to be exposed to the types of materials that have already begun to dictate our society today.
By giving our classroom the gift of technology, we will be able to begin to step into what most of society has already been privileged to master.
Using these requested three Acer Chromebooks with Google Chrome Education Licenses will allow students to explore educational applications, practice reading and comprehension skills, and even begin to learn to type. It will also give them the opportunity to explore various places in the world that many of them wish to travel to, but have not been so fortunate to have the opportunity. This technology will open a whole new door for exploration, engagement, and reinforcement.
I also am excited to be one of the first to teach my students about internet safety. With a changing and often unsafe world, these children need to know how to appropriately operate technological devices, while remaining safe and being respectful online as well. I plan on teaching about cyber bullying as well as how to access kid-safe websites. This will be a whole new adventure for my second graders, but I know they are eager to learn and experience this new world of tech.
