As a school counselor, I serve over five hundred students in grades K-5. A priority is helping them to discover themselves through social-emotional wellness. I have students come to me from different socioeconomic levels, learning styles and cultural backgrounds for help with their problem solving and educational decisions. The last thing that I want them to be worried about is school supplies.
This year, we have started clubs at our school that give our students the opportunity to synergize, problem solve and get to know people outside of their class.
My Project
Even though school is about learning, we can still have tons of fun! Our school has started Club Fridays for students to synergize, problem solve and get to know people outside of class. The club that I chose to sponsor is a rock painting club. Students are over the top excited about getting to spend a few minutes on Friday afternoon spending time with other students that love to paint and use their talents to create amazing rocks.
We are putting together a rock garden in memory of one of our beloved teachers that died of cancer after devoting many years to education.
The paints, paint pens, rocks, and other items requested in this project will give my students what they need to rock with creativity!
