Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our school is an elementary school that is one of three Regionally Gifted Centers for English Language Learners in Chicago Public Schools. Numerous students are bilingual, and many immigrated from various parts of the world. Students at our school are encouraged to embrace each other's diverse backgrounds as well as to celebrate and foster their own heritage and uniqueness.
All my students are supported and motivated to succeed based on their unique strengths and weaknesses.
An emphasis on the arts, native language, high expectations, and use of technology help students develop into well-rounded individuals. A variety of before and after-school programs are used to develop these core ideas.
My Project
My class is filled with over 30 students sitting in close proximity to each other ALL DAY. It doesn't take long, for at least one student to get distracted. When one student gets off task, others follow shortly. The result is unfinished or poorly completed work.
To provide a better learning environment for my students, I would like to utilize privacy boards which can help students focus and be more successful academically.
Independent activities and assessments are a vital component of education. They allow teachers determine what students are capable of doing on their own. Distractions prove to be that outside factor that skew data and make the analysis of student ability unclear. I think this can really help.
