Our Program is Virtual But Our Meetings are Real

My Students

I have found over the years as a teacher that many students have the desire to take on more responsibility -- to see what it's like in the real world -- but never having the opportunity. Creating a Virtual Enterprise class was my first step to providing this chance.

My students attend high school on Long Island.

Many come from entrepreneurial families. They have a great desire to gain the knowledge that led their families down this path. They want to help their parents but need to gain the knowledge themselves. The Virtual Enterprise course is just that chance for them.

My Project

Entering my classroom each day feels very strange because it isn't really a classroom but an office. My students come in and just go to "work." Giving my students the opportunity to act as professional business men and women has given them tremendous confidence in their abilities. In our "Virtual Enterprise" Program, we regularly have business meetings and entertain in-school and outside guests. For our project, we have requested a microwave to enable us to increase the professionalism of these business meetings and entertain our guests properly. Having the appropriate business atmosphere will increase my students' abilities to become successful business people.
